## Driving a critical project

[Gasum Oy](https://www.gasum.com/en/) is a Nordic energy company and an expert in the gas sector and energy markets. Together with its partners, Gasum is actively advancing the transition toward a carbon-neutral future on land and at sea. 

To support a key strategic initiative, Gasum identified the need for a highly capable expert to drive a group-wide procurement project. The assignment required strong execution capabilities, structured leadership, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders. 

An interim manager was the ideal solution to ensure both focus and high-quality delivery.  

 

## Turning to Ferovalo to find the right fit

Gasum’s leadership approached Ferovalo to find the right person to lead their project.

Three of the candidates were chosen for an interview, and ultimately, [Dr. Janne Ohtonen](https://www.ferovalo.com/news/talent-highlight-dr.-janne-ohtonen) was the best fit for the role.  

Janne stepped into the role of Gasum's Group Procurement Project Manager in August of 2024. 

 

## Janne: structured leadership and fast impact

Janne stepped into Gasum’s interim role, bringing with him a strong track record in procurement transformation and project management. 

From the outset, Janne demonstrated an exceptional ability to quickly understand Gasum’s business environment and project requirements. His structured and professional approach ensured that the project progressed efficiently.

The VP emphasized that one of Janne’s key strengths was his ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders—many of whom were not directly reporting to him. His inclusive and collaborative approach ensured alignment across the organization and kept the project moving forward. 

Over the course of the 17-month assignment, Janne provided consistent leadership and maintained a strong focus on delivering results.
